A walk through Ortezzano to discover its historical and architectural charm
An ideal itinerary to immerse yourself in the village’s history and admire its medieval and Renaissance masterpieces, strolling through paved alleys, secluded squares and panoramic views of Valdaso. The route begins at the fortified gateway of Porta da Sole, then leads to the majestic Pentagonal Tower —a Ghibelline defensive symbol— and continues along the walls to the breathtaking Belvedere.

The visit continues to the two main churches in the historic center: the Chiesa di San Girolamo, which houses artworks and a 19th-century organ, and the Chiesa del Carmine, characterized by its Baroque dome and finely decorated façade. Don’t miss a stop in front of Palazzo Carboni— linked to the figure of Latinist Giuseppe Carboni— and the lively Piazza Giampaoli,home to the Public Library. The tour ends at the Auditorium Sant’Antonio, a former religious building now converted into a multipurpose cultural space.
