In the Val d’Aso district, you will come across the Chiesa di San Filippo Neri (Church of St. Philip Neri), built between 1965 and 1967. Its construction was strongly advocated by the parish priest at the time, Don Aurelio Cossignani. He forsaw the need for a new place of worship in this specific area of the municipality, which, in the 1960s, was undergoing significant economic growth and a corresponding rise in population, also fueled by the relocation of several families from the historic center to the valley. The church stands as a true symbol of community strength: in fact, it was built not only with financial contributions, but above all through the hands-on labor and voluntary efforts of the local residents. Architecturally, the church features a simple design and a traditional Latin cross plan, as if to reflect the modesty and dedication of the community that wanted and built it. The Parish of San Filippo Neri was canonically established on May 1, 1965, and on December 15 of the same year, Don Aurelio Cossignani was officially appointed its first parish priest. Today, the church and its parish remain an important center of community and faith for the entire densely populated Val d’Aso district.
